چکیده

The present study was conducted at ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru, India during 2018-2019 to quantify resource use efficiency in 11 genotypes of gladiolus propagated through cormels based on growth, biomass partitioning and nutrient removal pattern. Growth yield parameters differed significantly among genotypes. leaf number higher Arka Shobha (9.67) Manorama (9.00) than other (6.33-8.67). spike length Naveen (102.9 cm) lesser Kumkum (66.2 cm). pattern indicated that below ground (corm) accounted for 71.5% total (3990 kg ha-1), while above (leaf spike) 28.5% (1137 ha-1). In genotypes, the profile accumulation N corms followed by leaves spikes. P (0.13-0.14%), Mn (29.8-43.5 mg kg-1), Zn (15.3-23.4 kg-1) Cu (5.2-6.0 similar. Spikes accumulated K Mg corms. Ca more (2.39%) flower stalks (1.95 %). average Fe concentration (mg (293) (269) (160). quantified 122 N, 10.8 71.7 per ha crop. demand (g ha-1) (1062.4) (152.5), (23.8) (23.0). data implies is a heavy feeder K. Nutrient influenced production with high degree variability (Y =-541.858 + 24.097 Kuptake 1.405 Feuptake R2=0.995). gives scope precision avoiding blanket recommendations.

The effect of dormancy on glucose uptake in gladiolus cormels.

The uptake of glucose and of 3-O-methyl-d-glucose by cormel slices of Gladiolus X gandavensis Van Houtte was studied in relation to cormel dormancy. Uptake was higher in nondormant cormels. Incubation of nondormant cormels with abscisic acid (ABA) reduced their uptake capacity. Treatment of dormant cormels with 6-benzyladenine (BA) did not affect their uptake rate. ABA and BA promoted O(2) upta...

Evaluation of Biomass Production and Wastewater Nutrient Removal Using Microalgae: Sustainable Strategy to CO2 Bio-Fixation and Bioenergy Production Approach

Nowadays, the replacement of renewable energies such as biofuels is one of the main priorities in environmental programming and investments. This study is based on sustainable strategy towards integrating algal biomass generation as a green feedstock with wastewater treatment, CO2 bio-fixation, and bioenergy production. Therefore, the performance of Trichormus variabilis in ...

High nutrient removal rate from swine wastes and protein biomass production by full-scale duckweed ponds.

Duckweed ponds have been successfully used in swine waste polishing, generating a biomass with high protein content. Therefore, the present study evaluated the efficiency of two full-scale duckweed ponds considering nutrient recovery from a piggery farm effluent (produced by 300 animals), as well as the biomass yield and crude protein (CP) content. A significant improvement in the effluent qual...

Isolation of microalgae with potential for integrated biomass production and nutrient removal from wastewater

Abstract The present study firstly investigates the variations of microalgae in the constructed wetland. Then one of the potential microalgal species was isolated and cultured in autotrophic and mixotrophic growth to compare the performance on biomass production and to evaluate the ability of wastewater treatment and simultaneous biodiesel production. Scenedesmus sp. was an abundant strain in t...

Dark CO(2) Fixation in Gladiolus Cormels and Its Regulation during the Break of Dormancy.

The increase in dark CO(2) fixation during cold storage of Gladiolus x gandavensis van Houtte-type grandiflorus cormels is used to monitor changes in their state of dormancy. Dark fixation is also promoted by benzyladenine, which breaks cormel dormancy, and is inhibited by abscisic acid and gibberellin A(3), which inhibit cormel germination. The rate of dark fixation by nondormant cormels is fi...
